frequently asked questions

I have never been to a hackathon. What can I expect at the event?

It’s a fun, friendly competition! We want you to come and learn, hack and show your talent. It’s an opportunity to make a new friends.

How many people are allowed in a team?

Teams can be anywhere from one to five members. All members must register and RSVP for the event.

What do I need to present at the end of the hackathon?

You will need to present a working prototype at the pitching session at the end of the hackathon.

Can I pre-code before the hackathon?

Sadly, nope! You can certainly try things out before the competition, but you must build your entire prototype – code, hardware and all – on-site.

Do I have to stay overnight at the venue?

We encourage you to stay overnight and continue working on your project. But if for any reason you are unable to, please let us know in advance.

Must I know how to code to participate?

Not necessarily, we welcome people with different skills and would expect everyone to contribute to their respective teams.

Must I attend the workshops?

Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended if you think any of the workshops will help equip you with the knowledge and skills to get started at the hackathon.

Who owns my project & IP?

The team that develops the project is the owner of the project and IP. We encourage participants to open source their projects to both share their hacks with the greater community.

Is there ample parking at the Hackathon venue?

Yes, the “Centre de Recherche en Numérique” offers numerous parking lots.
